hi,

I have an old Wisconsin AC4 driving a 9kw 1ph/3ph generator. It's all on a base, and direct coupled.

It came as part of a lot I purchased at auction, and I haven't tried to start it yet because it hasn't been run in 20 yrs or more. It does turn OK...not stuck.

I'm wondering whether I should try and re-work it myself, or just sell it to someone who's better at this stuff than I am. How hard are these engines to re-do ? I'm a little worried about parts etc.. I think this is a 1930's vintage motor ?

I change plugs and stuff, but have never rebuilt a motor like this. I don't want to start something I can't finish.

I guess a 2nd question would be...can I just start it and use it? I was told it was a good-running gen-set that they used regularly on the farm here in Oregon.

thanks,

Richard
