Wisconsin Model THD. How do I go about setting the timing. Where are the timing marks and at what degree?

Magneto or battery ignition? If a mag I retard the mag. as far as it will go. Then turn the engine to top dead center and then turn the engine a little farther so it is slightly after TDC. Next I advance the mag until the impluses snap. Hold the mag. in this position and tighten. This will keep the engine from " kicking" if started with a hand crank.

Remove all the tin shrouding and make sure all the cooling fins are clear. Also be sure all the fan blades are on the flywheel. Also check that the fuel mixture is rich enough as a lean fuel mixture can make an engine run hot. Be sure to replace ALL the shrouds. if part of the tin is missing replace it.
