magnet charging

Is there any simple way to charge the magnets on a Wico magneto for an International LA or LB engine? Is there a way to determine if the magnets are strong enough? Thanks for your help.

Thanks it is not an EK. It is an A or H. Same magnet as the AH. I do not want to take it apart because the spring is **** to get back in if it comes out. I broke one and don't to break another. I did replace the condenser with a rebuilt one. I just wanted to make sure the magneto was the best I could make it before I put this thing back together. Thanks for your help.

Don't remove the magnets, they must be charged while in the Magneto. I'm thinking it's a WICO EK, and they are easily charged inside the mag. You need a magnet charger, but a local machine or small engine shop should be able to do it for you. EK's usually hold their magnetism pretty well as they don't discharge when at rest. I'm hoping someone else can tell what constitutes a good magnet. If the condenser is old, I would replace it and go from there. Alot of places can refurbish your mag for a reasonable cost...

raymond you have a wico ah this is a rotary mag. If you have a good spark dont mess with it i think that the armature is magnetized too. other types of mags wico ek webster etc are eaisly charged. i built a mag charger but did not make the jpieces for charging the armature. never ran into one that needed charging,
