indian lister knock-offs

Does anyone here have experience of knowledge of the copies of lister diesels comming out of India? Thanks for any help or opinions

Both Lister and Petter had their diesel engines copied by their respective Indian agents soon after the licences to sell (Lister) or manufacture (Petter) expired.

Experience with the copies is varied, some seem to be quite reliable as long as they are not called upon to do really hard work, the Metex brand is/was sold in Australia for example.

Other information is not so good, metallurgy is not an exact science with the crankshafts, known problems exist with the Lister twin copies, using cast rather than forged cranks as with the originals.

Spares are known to be variable in fit and finish, and the injection equipment is not known for longevity.

An engine that will be used fairly infrequently should be OK, but for regular hard work it may prove to be an expensive excercise.

Is there any lister or Indian Listeroid parts company in the USA?
I need the fuel tube between the injector pump and the injecter.

There is a report on them on the utterpower.com site. They use them for powering low rpm generators and such. They sound like a decent engine that will last a long time. I believe you can order them on that site too.Chuck.
