Spark plug for Hercules

Where can I find a spark plug to fit a 1 1/2 hp Hercules one lunger. Plug hole is 1/2" pipe thread. Any help is appreciated.

You have a couple options...the original plug was probably a Champion X, same as the Model T took. It's a two piece take apart plug and has thumb nut on top. They are still being made but cost $25 or so. Newer one piece plugs are Champion A25, Motorcraft F-11, and Autolite 3095's. These all run $4 to $8 and run fine in the old engines. Discontinued plugs are Champion 31's and 34's - nice old take apart plugs also. I run a Motorcraft F-11 plug around home, but switch to a Champion X or 31 for showing off.

There were a lot of 1/2 NPT plugs on the market for the model T's, Wards, Blue Streak, Oil-Rite, Sootless, and lord knows how many others. Your best bet would be to find someone into Model-T's and pick thru some of his old plugs. They're easy to test on your engine and he might have some that wouldn't work on his T that will spark fine in your engine. There was a great old plug out on E-bay awhile back that had an hour glass shaped porcelain...I thought it looked classy so I watched it. It went for over $100! So you've got sparkplug collectors to tend with on e-bay. But some good NOS stuff does come up out there occasionally...

Baggsy... Thanks for the info. & history. I'll chase down a friend whose got a Model T and see what he's got in his spares bin.
