Wisconsin engine needs help

Hey, First of all. I have a Wisconsin engine on my trencher (like a ditch witch) The engine model number is AGND. Alright. It's getting fire. I took the plug out laid it on the excaust pipe. Turned the key over and it is firing just like it's supposed tooo. By the way, it's a one cylinder. Okay this one guy that has looked at it before, says that you cannot flood this engine, because he said the way the carburator is made, fuel can't run "uphill". So If I can't flood it, and It's sparking, firing like it's supposed too.....What should I look for, or doo. My uncle has been spraying starting fluid in it and my boss at work says this is the worst thing you can doo to one. I'd say (my uncle) might of sprayed maybe a third of a can in it, since we've had it, which is only about two months now. If starting fluid makes it addicted to it, I don't believe we've sprayed that much into it. Is there a such thing as the battery not putting out enough AMPS to turn the starter fast enough???? My meter shows the battery has 12 volts. Isn't that enough? If not, how many AMPS should it take? I've scratched my head on this thing for past month and now about to go bald. Any Help Would Greatly Be Appreciated.

you may want the advice given me....to take head off. i didnt want to do it but i did...turns out exhaust valve was sticking....cleaned everything up and oiled, and runs fine....

Hey, Figured out the problem, but now I have more little problems. One of the people I had work on it, ran a wire from the spark plug to the "Kill Switch" Everytime I took the plug off and set it on the excaust and turned the key to check the firing it fired. So I done away, with the wire he had run to the plug, and turned the key, It fired right up, First Try!! Now my other problems, While digging my ditch last week for my city water, I noticed my Excaust pipe was cherry red, What's this a sign of?? I took it off, thinking it may be stopped up, but it appeared allright. (Believe I'll leave it off though) #2: While digging my neighbors ditch (city water) the chain/teeth bogged down (under a load) and it died. I couldn't get it to start back, so my uncle dragged his booster over and boosted it off, started then. Without boosting, it sounds like the battery is turning the starter fast enough, to were it should start, but it don't #3: I have oil/gas?? coming out of the suction line right before it goes into the carburator. What's this a sign of?? It looks like super thin oil, and smells like gas.... Welp, Figured I'd throw some more questions at ya. Thanks for all the replys. I'll try putting a little oil in the spark plug hole. Thanks again.

i am not expert at small engines...but i'll give you my advice good or bad...check timing..compression...valves/condition and clearence..got real good spark?new points,plug, condensor/ right amount and grade of oil, good/proper gas/ have you got oil breather??just some thoughts..

I brought an akn wisconsin to an old timer to fix that had sat many years...i couldn't get running...he got it runnin, asked him what he did..he said.."poured oil in cylinder to get the compression up..." well it ran fine...now its been sittin for another 10 years. and i think magnetoos tired!

Try a teaspoon or so of oil in the cylinder through the sparkplug hole. Sounds like you may have a "washed" cylinder. The washed cylinder just means it is dry and needs a bit of oil to seal the rings. Once you get it started, it should be OK unless you have other mechanical troubles. A compression test will tell you a lot.

now lets see, does it have an air filter on it???
does it have a fuel filter thats poss. pluged up??
has the oil been changed lately, so as to keep some friction on the cly. walls?? while ya got the plug out hold your thumb over the plug hole & crank it over, any compression left in the odeboy?
