I have a Wisconsin VH4D with a FM-X4B7 (Y-97-S2) Magneto that I am troubleshooting. I have removed the distributor cap and housing and am preparing to replace the points and condenser. After removing the old points and condenser and looking at the removal and replacement procedure in the engine's instruction book, I noticed that who ever replaced the points/condenser before me did not reinstall the cam wick. It appears that this cam wick lubricates the distributor cam where the point set touches the cam lobe. My question is (1) how vital is this cam wick? Can I reinstall and run without it? (2) Where can I find the part if it is vital? It wasn't included in the points and condenser kit I ordered from Continental/Wisconsin Engines but the kit did include replacement wicks felts and lubricant. Any information would be appreciated.
