Does anyone know what the point gap on a MRD4A302 American Bosch Magneto and the spark plug gap on a 4 cylinder flat head continental motor should be? Also the correct way to set the magneto and to which cylinder needs to be at top dead center.

Point gap should be set at .020" and plug gap is .025". I can run e-mail you copies of my owners manual if you need them.

i'm not sure about that particular mag, but the bosch mags case used call for .015 on point gap. rule of thumb for timing, bring #1 to tdc or until air stops coming out of the spark plug hole, with the mag off, #1 should be top right, and most boshs' have a window and indicator pointing to the terminal that is up to fire, rotate mag until #1 sparks back mag up past #1 then turn foward again just before you get into the impulse on the mag stop and that should me it. when you try to start it, if it bacfires thru the carb, then rotate firing order 90 degrees. this should get you running.. btw if the mag has an advance retard lever you want it in the full advance position.
