I have a VH4D on an older Hesston swather and I was wondering what weight motor oil to use. It has a lot of hours on it , but runs great and no smoke. I plan on swathing hay and want it to last quite a while. Thanks

Swather? Is that one of those things that cuts and crimps Hay and leaves it in a nice row? That name is new to me but I have run one as well as an Owatona that did the same thing. Don't know about the oil, I use anything that's cheep and slippery. I can tell you though that you should be shure to blow the chaff out of the top of the motor once and a while. After we put the fire out and replaced the carborator and a few wires the thing started rite up, expensive way to get rid of the chaff though.

Use SAE 30 between 120 F to 40 F, SAE 20 between 40 and 15 F. I have always used a good grade #30 oil all year long.
