I have a 3.5hp tecumseh model H35 and I can't get it to idle. I cleaned the carb twice and made sure all the passages were clean. I have tried many different carb settings and nothing seems to work. It idles fine with half choke but when I turn the choke off it just stalls. Any Ideas? The engine is in a rototiller.

I had the same problem, replace the spring that pulls the trottle back into place, there is an adjustment screww there too. That is what worked for me. Try cleaning any linkages. Change oil, plugs and condesnor if need be. For carb adjustment try 1.5 turns out.

ya ive got the same problom with my 3.5hp tecumseh motor, and it has the twist throtle its on a old mtd mini bike, this is how the problem stated, i toke the carb and the intake tube thing off the motor to replace the intake gaskit, so when i when to put it back on i broke the intake gaskit and said f*** it, cus it never had one in the first place. any aways now it wont even idel, its runs for a little then dies. i has the motor worked on before and ran great, now it wont even idel. so if any one has any ideas on how me and thid guy could get owr motors runing that would be awsome.

Thanks , Drew

The engine will not idle correctly with a vacuum leak. If there is no intake gasket, or a poorly sealing gasket this can cause the leak. No gasket is not a solution as the head and the intake do not have perfectly flat mating surfaces.

If you have a brken gasket a sealer like RTV will often get you by, just don't use too much. The best intake sealer is the Permatex dark green sticky stuff put on very thin.
