VF4D to VH4D Swap

I have a Bobcat Model 600 with a Wisconsin VF4D Engine that is shot. Now I have located a good used VH4D, And need to know weather it is interchageable. as one person has said the VH4D is physically bigger and will not fit in the small Bobcat compartment.???? Also Specs on the Drive end of crank IE legnth, DIA.

Hi, can anyone out there tell me about a vf4d wisconsin. I inherited a home made log splitter. It has been sitting for 8 yrs. Looks like a crank start??? How do I start this baby? After I change all Fluids of course. It is not seized. Is this distibutor driven by a flywheel? It seems to be laying horizontally. Can an electric or pull start be adapted to it? Thanks Scott

The "F" and the "H" are basically the same engine. The "H" had a different firing sequence, but the bore and stroke are the same. The "H" will run a little smoother than the "F" because the "F" was an oddfire engine. The manifolds and jugs were alittle bit different but I have used "H" jugs on an "F" with some custom machine work. Wisconsin had several different crankshafts available with different shank lengths depending on the OEM application the engine was originally on You will need to make sure that the ouput end of the crank matches your old one.

hi phil: in response to your question. a vh4d & a vf4d are pysically the same size. vh4d is 30h.p. @ vf4d is 25h.p. i think the bobcat you have has a tapered crankshaft. so make sure the vh4d has a tapered crankshaft as well. if you have any questions please call mike @ 416-526-1477

Hello Phil, I think your best bet would be to call the factory. Their number is 800-922-5632 ext. #6. Ask for Hike. He is real good at answering that type of question. All the books I have does not tell if they will fit. I do know that the VG4D is a lot bigger then VF4D. Hope this helps, Joe Browning
