I need to identify a Wisconsin single cylinder horizontal shaft engine off of a small crawler dozer. Someone kindly removed the data plate and without the model number the local dealer wont even look in his books. Not very friendly. It has a 3" bore and a 3 1/4" stroke. Maganeto is a Wico XH-150C. Head has casting number AB-63-E. Block casting number is BA-5H. The carb is a Zenith L48H 10535A. The head gasket bears the numbers QD-484. The cam has the casting numbers of EA-98-C or might be EA-980. I've been told this is an 8hp, 9hp and 12hp engine but believe it is much less or real tired. It still runs. Any ideas as to it model number would help us to give it a new lease on life.

Your motor is an AEH, 6.2 hp (hard to believe given the size & weight). Let me know if you need any help or info.

Thanks for the id. Was hoping that it was an 8hp but I guess that explains why it is a bit underpowered. Thanks again

If you like that style of Wisconsin, an AGH or the more common AHH (3-5/8" bore X 4" stroke) would both be over 8 hp. The newer AEN or AENL would also, or the newer still S-8D, S-10D, S-12D, & S-14D, or the TR-10 or TRA-10 tractor motors. All of teh newe ones except the S-12D & S-14 D would be smaller & lighter as well. FOr that matter, a BKN that make 7.2 hp is a very good motor & a lot smaller than your AEH, if you are not trying to maintain a "period" appearence. E-mail me off line if I can help.

What is the real difference between the AEH and the AEN if they both have the same bore & stroke?
Since the cooling shroud is pretty beat up and will take some sheet metal work, It will probably go back to work driving a water pump. Have a lead on a 14 hp engine but the guy doesn't remember what make. With my luck it will be older than the AEH!
Thanks again for the info.

I had a similar problem. I called the Wisconsin factory. I got their number off their website. They were able to easily "ID" my engine off the casting and other info. Hope this helps. Joe
