I have a wisconsin v4 on a new holland swather that has been sitting about 4 years. I replaced all spark plugs and points and drained old gas. when I try to start it,it almost starts but will shoot fire out of carb. do you think I have a valve sticking open? any suggestions would be helpful.

Yes, the valves stick open just sitting a couple of months, you can use a screw driver in the spark plug holes and pry the valves down if they are not too tight, use fresh gas every time you fill it, use marvel mystery oil in the gas and oil.

Duane.....A compression test will reveal the possibility of a stuck valve. No compression equals stuck valve. Another possibility is a couple of crossed plug wires. You didn't say what model V-4 you have, and different models may have different firing order. Check the point gap to be sure it is correct. If the engine is magneto equipped, be sure the impulse is tripping and not sticking. Good luck and all the best..... Greg
