Mongo,

I was wrong when I said that your genset was a PE-84. It should be a PE-145. The PE-145 and PE-84 are identical except for the output. The PE-145 puts out a straight 120V, single phase where the PE-84 puts out 3 phase 220V. They each weight around 5000 pounds shipping weight.

Mongo,

I have the same thing. It's a PE-84 and runs at 900 RPM. I have a TM on the machine I can make a copy of if you need one.

Tim,

I saw your post and I know it is old, but, did you still have your Le Roi power plant? What model is it? Is it still for sale?

I have 4 of the same engine-gen sets and am desperately trying to locate water pumps for the Leroi engines.

As far as their history: during WWII, the gov't contracted for back area and communication "light plants" and Westinghouse won the generator contract and Leroi won the engine contract (with Westinghouse later buying out Leroi to more easily fulfill the contract); the engine that Leroi developed and the generator that Westinghouse delveloped for this contract were made only for each other and no other applications exsited for these 2 components (i.e., the egine was made for that particular generator and that generator was made for that particular engine and nothing else).

John,

You may have to resort to rebuilding the existing water pumps. Since this engine used a split pully as a built tensioner, you'll require a spanner wrench to loosen the pully halves to get the belt off. I could look in my parts book to see if I can still match up any bearings and seals, but you won't know for sure until you take the pump apart.
