Anyone got an old 19FB B&S laying around they would like to part out? I'm looking for the carb, and ignition coil.

Thanks,
Dave

The carb from a late model B&S will work on your
19FB. The coils are still available from Briggs
but the are almost $100.00. I had a NOS coil still
in the box and it had went bad on the shelf.I found this out when I used it to replace the coil
on Dad's 23FB on a fire pump. I have discovered a cheaper alternative by modifing the coil from the later B&S engine which is external to the flywheel. It must be a point type coil. NO MAGNATRON. Start by removing the core/ laminations
from the coil. Then using a band saw with a fine tooth blade or a mill which would be better, shorten the height of the core to 2 3/8 inches from top. Make your cut on the curved end leaving theends flat. Next remove .100 inches from the outside of each half of the core. Reassemble. This
modified core will set inside a step on the core that remains whine the old coil is removed. I use
a stainless steel hose clamp cut into with some hooks spot welded to it to retain the coil. Lenthen the plug wire, piont wire to the post in the shroud and ground the ground wire and it will run. Watch coil to flywheel clearance. I am using thi modification on a model 9, 14, and two 23FB's I am looking for a Model 19.
