Does the fuel line check valve have to be inplace for the engine to run?

The check valve isn't needed to RUN the lb. But you will find it a lot easier to start the engine. The check valve keeps the gas up to the carb. Otherwise the gas runs back into the tank and the engine has to suck the gas up in order to start everytime. That's a lot of cranking in order to get the gas up to start everytime. I just bought a check valve from Hit & Miss enterprises for a LB for $14.95 and it works great.

SCOTT
I believe that the check valve has to be in place. I have 1 1/2 lb and the previous owner told me that if it would not start that I should check the check valve. Good luck
