I have a 1946 Wisconsin AEH that will be used to run a small (2500watt) generator. It will likely be used year round, in temps ranging from -10 to 110. Can anyone tell me what weight oil I should use in this old engine? Thanks for any replies,
Jason

In cold winter when it's below +20, use 5W-30, Above +20 to +60 or so, use 20W-20 and for summer use #30. All need to be heavy duty oil with an API rating of SJ or SL. This is assuming you have cleaned the oil pan out. For most of the year other than when it's very cold, I have found that using 15W-40 Diesel service oil really works great. You must have clean insides before using it. Back when your engine was made they didn't have the great oils of today. Please don't use a synthetic oil as some older engines will leak bad.

My Wisconsin manual for models AA thru AKN for my climate of 40 to 120 degrees calls for 30 wt oil. Below 40 degrees to +5 degrees calls for 20-20W. By the way, manuals sell for less than $10 at our local small engine shop.
