Not about tractors, but it is a problem with a diesel engine, and a problem with an old part. Specifically it's a single-cylinder Marna (possibly an M1 or type K) marine diesel. Marna's were produced here in Norway from 1918 to around 1984 (though one type the M10 is still available). The engine I have may have been produced in the 50's or 60's - but I really don't know.

The problem is the temperature gauge. This is a glass-bulb type mounted on the outlet elbow in a brass tube about 3 inches high. The thermometer itself is inside a glass housing, thus protected by the brass, with a cutaway to allow viewing of the scale. Unfortunately the brass gave insufficient protection and both the thermometer and the outer glass has been smashed. The scale itself runs I think from around 20 degrees C to 100C - where it is red-lined. Altogether the unit looks locally produced - but is it?

I have no possibility of tracking the original part manufacturer down here. But! Is there anyone out there who knows of a similar gauge made for a different application - perhaps just the glass thermometer with the appropriate size and range characteristics. I'd really like to know.

Any help appreciated. I could mount a modern gauge in the place of the original, but it's really neat. (The oil pressure gauge is also a lovely brass dial-type, but I think this can be rescued).
