Hi from the English / Scottish borders.

I just bought what I thought was a Lister G1 single cylinder hopper engine. When I went to collect it, it turns out its a Lister G2 radiator job.
Its actually a LeRoi built in the UK by Lister on licience between 1938 - 47.

So, do you know of a LeRoi old engine association in the US?

Most of tha parts I need (gaskets & engine spares) I can get in the UK. The tinware is missing and I dont think I've got a hope of finding any in good nick, so I'll make it.

Any advice welcome.

Cheers.

This site has a very good listing of specs for various engines.

Is your Listeroid air or water cooled? I found this Krislar Petteroid a real mix of parts courteousy of the local Amish tinker shop.
PH1W type engine with an AVA injection pump. The wrong style Bosch tip in the MICO injector holder. The head gasket had been leaking and they had added all kinds of fix it wonder glop miracle cure in a can products. Between the leak stopper and minerals/mud/split cow feed. The water jackets are either plugged tight or crusted over 1/8" to 1/4" think with crusty crud.
The engine must have been mostly cooled by air. It was only operated long enough to milk a couple of cows twice daily. It was probably didn't overheated due to the brief operating time span. About 400lbs of cast iron in the head, block & crankcase.

If nothing definite on your engine turns up here, try checking the diesel and small engine forums on smokstak.com.
You need to contact two people who post there...one as listerdiesel on the diesel forum (from Rushdon, Northamptonshire, UK) who has a wealth of Lister info, and Ed Malcolm "The LeRoi Man", a longtime small LeRoi collector (LeRoi earlier built 4 and 6 cyl inlines and later humungous industrials, and lots in between).
I can"t say either will have info, but it"s worth a try. Good luck.

Yeah, thanks for that. Its a USA LeRoi engine built by Lister on licience, so I thought you guys might be able to help. Since its basically a USA engine.

From where I sit, theres zero interest in USA motors. They gave the world Harley Davidson, and tractor technology dont work on two wheels.

Well, it does, but not if you want to go round corners fast.

Now, if anyone out there has any info on single cylinder rad cooled agricultural engines, Circa 1938 - 47, with a LeRoi stamp on the block, I should be obliged.

Particularly if you have a pic of what it looked like when original.

Until then, "Triumph Till I Die".
