I have got a briggs FH that the flywheel magnets catch on the coil, i have changed the crank shaft to one with little wear and experienced the same trouble. if i shim the flywheel out with a .030 shim, it just rubs the coil, it rubs on the bottom side of the horseshoe opposite side the actual coil ( if this letter c was the coil, the comma is where it rubs {C,}). if the bearing wear bad wouldn't it rub on the top? Any input is appreciated.

Babbitt bushing bearings can get egg shaped or the crank can be worn or even bent for some reason causing that. Make sure coil and lamination shoes are in right place or right ones too and holes not off.
