I am looking for an engine to drive a couple of millstones on a frame. I would guess it will require 6-10hp. I know very little about stationary engines, but would like to find something reliable, easy to use and start. It would run for 2-3 hours at a time, a few days a week. The mill was made around 1870, but I don't necessarily need an engine that is really ancient. Any suggestions on either clutch or tensioning wheels, or whatever, for starting the drive (to overcome the inertia of the stones) would be appreciated. I think I will need to trolley mount the engine for convenience, so not too large an engine. Please help a total novice, and when I'm up and milling, you can come and get some flour! (Shropshire)
