I have an old Waukesha 4 cyl. engine that was left on the place when I purchaced the farm from my father a few years ago. It has XAH 168Y on the tag. It is in need of a manifold as this one has a hole rusted through it on the exhaust side. It has an electric start but is in need of some tlc. It is free and will run with a little work. What should I ask for this in the classifieds in this kind of condition? This engine was painted yellow. Any reason why? Maybe it was owned by the state at one time? Thanks for any help.

I bought a 4 cylinder Waukesha that was complete and loose from a person for 150 dollars. It is a crank start engine and has the rockford clutch. Just figured I would pass that on. I am in west central Minnesota.

I can't help with price or color, but can say one place to advertise it is oldihc.org (com?/net?), the IH truck site. The XA (no water pump) and XAH (water pump) were used in several old IH's in late 20s to mid-30s. I've got an old IH parts book on one of the models that used the XAH, but I don't know where I put it. I don't know if there were differences between the stationary and truck models, but it's worth a try.
Also look for Fairmont Railcar site; they used XAH's up into WWII, if I remember correctly.
XAH became one of Wauk's little workhorse engines, used in lots of different stuff; I'll run a few old catalogs and see what I can find
