honda gx160 5.5 hp engine stalling

this engine is on a spilter. it just quit yesterday and wouldnt restart. we let it sit for about 15min and then it started but quit after a minute. it did this for about 2 hours. we let it sit over night and it started the next day and ran for about 20min then quit again. we let it sit for 10min and it started again and ran for about 15min then quit again. then it wouldnt start again. we have changed the oil, spark plug,chabged the gas. we toke off the boel off the carb and the gas was clean and no drit was in it. any help would be appreciated

I don't know the specific engine but you describe perfectly the effects of a failing ignition coil. It deteriorates as it heats up and a short cool off will allow it to run for a bit longer, an overnight going cold takes longer to re heat and fail.

Check spark immediately after the engine dies - it should be a good fat blue spark over about an 8 to 10 mm gap, any hint of pink or red is a bad sign.
