help with old water pump

Hello, not sure if this is the right group to post or not, but here it is. I was at a farm and machinery auction recently and picked up an old twin cylindar water pump. I am tearing it down to rebuild and run off a hit/miss engine. I can not locate any data on this pump and was looking for assistance. The data plate says the following: "Galvazinc Twin, Flint & Walling Mfg Co, Kendallville Ind., USA" From what I have gathered, it appears this was powered by a windmill. I have it almost all dismantled and need to replace all seals/plungers/gaskets and it is filled with rust. I have several questions on how to get certain parts apart, where to get replacement parts, history, how to get rid of all the interior rust, etc. Also, this is very puzzling, when I took an inspection cover off to see the "crank shaft", there were two rings about an 1 1/2" dia. one on each side of the shaft. I do not know what these do. I thought maybe they went against the one seal, but there is no way for the one to get past the connecting rod. I am thinking either don"t use them or maybe they were ment to sling the oil somehow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Aloha, If the water pump was ran by a windmill (slow rpm) I would make sure that you don't exceed that rpm too much with your engine.

F&W is still in business. Have you tried to contact them? Every now and then there's a company that is proud of it's heritage and has an archivist who will take the time to look up old information. You might get lucky.

The rings are likely "ring oilers" that hang down into the crankcase oil and lift it up to the level of the bearings as they rotate. Lots of old equipment was set up that way.
