I've recently bought a horizontal McDonald Super Imperial Diesel and was wondering if you have heard of this type of engine, and if so do you know where I can get the manuals for this engine.
Any information you have about this engine would be a great help in trying to get this engine going and fully restored. Thank you

I Know where you can get Manuals and other information. There is a fellow in Victoria Australia who knows a lot about these engines.
He has a register of engine numbers and can tell you when the motor was brought and who it was sold to. Please Emai me if you want to know more.

McDonald Imperial Super Diesels were manufactured in Melbourne Australia.
The letters in the serial No (ie F, FF, etc) indicate the engine series and can be dated by the series and engine number.
What series and size is your engine, I have some manuals and other data.
I also own a 1923 'F' series 5HP McDonald.

I own a Macdonald diesel engine and still use it to run my generator to charge batteries for the power to my house (Yes there are still parts of Victoria where it is not wired in )It is a 4 HP,Type SPI,800 RPM and Eng No 1307. Alas!!!the water jacket in the head has just rusted through around the injector,I have managed to plug it up temporarily as I have no other means of charging my batteries. Can any one help me out with a head or info on where I can obtain spare parts and other assistance. Regards John T.
