chain saw info needed

This may be a little off topic but here goes anyway...I have a Homelite XL model chain saw that has a chain oiling problem. Tried to use it recently after being idle all summer and now the chain oil is getting into the engine and burning it rather than oiling the chain. I took the pump apart but really dont see any thing wrong. I do not have a good description of how the pump is supposed to work. The pump is operated by a diaphragm which works off the crankcase pulsation. Any information regarding this setup would be appreciated Thanks

If your saw has two lines into oil tank one with a t type fitting. Make sure the duck bill valve is in place on one of the lines, there should be a t type fitting just uder the cap with a rubber one way (duck bill) valve on it. If it is gone or disentegrated you will have to replace it. PN 96841. You should find them at many small engine repair shops. Some saws do not have the t fitting on them but do have an oil fitting (with orifice) a lock washer and then the duck bill valve. If the oil fitting is missing along with the duck bill valve, look in the tank they may be in it. If not you will have to buy the oil fitting PN 69659-B along with the Duck bill valve. This should solve your problem..
