I'm stumped! wis. 4 cyl started blowing white smoke through breather tube, I shut down engine, checked oil, it was fine, started engine back up- runs fine, no smoke, plenty of power, but no oil pressure, should I pull engine and pull out oil pump?

Try another known to work oil pressure gauge or test your original gauge on another engine with similar oil pressure and known to be Ok in the oil pressure department.

Check you have oil flow to the gauge (loosen fitting on back of gauge).

Do a compression test on all 4 cylinders they should all be around the same reading.

Dont work engine or run for a long time with no oil pressure or it will die in an expensive way.
Listen for strange or new noises.

Good luck

Well, here's the deal, a 1/8 inch roll pin came loose somewhere in the engine. I suspect from the govenor, got into the gears in the front cover, wiped out teeth in oil pump gear and bent oil pump shaft! Hence no oil pressure, time to look for parts, and patch er up!

thanks for the reply, no pressure coming from hose to gauge- pulled oil filter cranked engine just a dribble of oil, compression around 130 each pulled pan, lots of fine grindings, am pulling engine to pull oil pump, etc, engine with less than 300 hours on it, sat for 10 + years. I've ran it for around 5 hours total until this! will post my finding when i have time to get this figured out, lots of work to do before rains come.
