Im working on a Wisconsin engine that is on a Royer top soil shredder.
Model #s are Wisconsin s14d 363564 5215 734.
I am trying to get the electrical system sorted out.
I was able to get a copy of the test procedures for this engine.
What is happening is this. Attach a volt meter to the battery and when running, the voltage flashes on the screen, rev the engine and the speed of the flashing increases.
The test procedures outline a test for the stator using the ohm meter. Values are lower than those called for but not open. Regulator and rectifier tested ok.
Get it running, pull the positive cable off and it of course quits.
Any suggestions
Thanks Keith Alexander

Often, digital voltmeters are confused by the electrical noise generated by the charging and ignition systems of engines. Believe it or not, this is a common occurence, and is an anomaly of the meter, NOT a problem with the engine's electrical system.

Simply use a decent ANALOG voltmeter for your testing.

And, don't intentionally pull a battery cable off while it's running. That can cause a voltage spike that will destroy a solid-state charging system's rectifiers and/or voltage regulator.
