Clinton outboards are fairly common - 1950s-1970s- they sold a lot of them - under their own name and also through chain-stores under various brands. The outboards were based on their 2 stroke-cycle lawn-mower engines and were very similar to the Eskas that used Lauson/PowerProducts engines. They ranged in horsepower from 3 to 5 1/2 horsepower. I've got a half a dozen laying around - a Chief 350 (3.5 horsepower) and a Sprite, etc. There was also a "J" series, Peerless, Apache, etc. Most had no neutral or reverse gears - reverse was accomplished by rotating the engine around. Some later units had a gearbox with neutral, and some had a small 3 amp generator to run lights. I often come across them in the $25 - $75 price range. I suppose that a real nice one with all the original sheetmetal and writing/paintwork intact might bring a little more. Antother small engine and mower company - Lauson - made some outboards with a four-stroke cycle engines - in one and two cylinder versions. They tend to sell for quite a bit more.
