I HAVE A FARMALL SUPER M, AND A 400 THAT WHEN YOUR DRIVING IN ROAD GEAR THE FRONT END WANTS TO SHAKE APART. IS THERE A BEARING GONE OUT? ANY WAY TO REBUILD THESE. I KNOW THIS IS A COMON PROBLEM WHATS THE FIX ? THANKS

You need new bolster shaft bushings.The old ones are worn out.Not sure CIH still firnishes them or not.

I don't know the Farmall setup, but on an AC WC, WD, etc. there is a tapered roller bearing at the bottom of the pedestal, which with age and wear will scallop out, allowing the front wheels to chatter. Woprse on hard surface than on dirt. That bearing does not turn much, but takes a lot of hard hits over the years. Also can have slop in the steering knuckles and pins, as well as what russ1 mentioned.

I have an Allis Chalmers that had that problem. There are shims where the housing bolts up to the frame that adjust how close the pinion gear on the pedestal meshes with the rack. on it the adjustment is to remove shims. That eliminated the problem. I am not familiar with Farmall but I would think that you can shim the gear set somehow to mesh tighter.
