Tranny problems with my ford tractor/forklift

I have a older ford tractor that was modifide a by a previous owner, to be a forklift. Its been running great, but after sitting for a bit, it develop a tranny problem. The clutch would not ingage to shift into forward or reverse. I crawled under the tractor and noticed that the tranny fluid had leaked out what appears to be an open drain plug. Leading to my questions what type of plug should I be looking for? The hole is not threaded, like and oil pan drain plug. And where and how to you fill the tranny fluid typically on a ford tractor.

Not sure what you mean by "will not ingage"... Does that mean that you cannot put it in gear when you push down the clutch or does that mean that it doesn't go anywhere (the clutch slips) when you have it in gear? (or something else?)... Like JMS says, the hole is a drain ( a"weep" hole) to drain any fluids that get into the bell housing area. Sometimes is has a cotter pin loosely in it. There are two potential sources of oil: the rear engine main bearing seal and transmission input shaft seal... there is not enough difference in the oils to tell by that... And if it is bad enough to repair, either one(or both) requires you to split the tractor at the bell housing... If it is the engine bearing seal, you should probably also see evidence of oil being thrown into the starter.... and again, if it is the engine, it will eventually work around the flywheel and get the clutch wet... If the hole is not threaded, it was meant to act as a drain, not a reservoir. Meaning there must be a seal above that area that is bad and letting oil through. Plugging the hole is not solving the problem, just creating more. You need an operator manual for lube info, and service and parts manuals will show what seals, etc. are involved in the leakage problem.
