ensign LP regulator diaphragm revival

I'd like to "revive" the diaphragm from my Ensign regulator. It is getting brittle; can I soak/clean it with anything? I was thinking of diesel fuel. Any suggestions? Mike

Your brittle diaphragm is best replaced with a new one. Diesel fuel will make the rubber soft and gooey. LP gas can be dangerous. It is not a good thing to have spewing out of a regulator. It will cause frostbite on the skin and will very well get you burned if it ignites from a spark.

New one is not an option; they haven't been around for decades. I need to keep this one serviceable as long as possible. There has to be something that will clean it up a little.

I just bought a rebuild kit for my Ensign. You can get them at Everhart 2-Way & LPG. Supply. Call 580-846-5633. I got the rebuild kit and propane filter shipped for $95.00
