TO-30 water in hydraulic fluid

My old TO-30 gets water in the hydraulic fluid reservoir, from the cooling system. How is it getting there? Is there a freeze plug that you access by splitting the tractor? I made a temporary fix by installing a petcock in the drain plug, to let the water out periodically, but would like to repair it correctly. Any and all help would be appreciated. .... and if you are getting so much as to have to drain it periodically, it probably isn't just condensation. You probably have some bad gaskets or a crack in a casting... J.

What you are seeing in the transmission is rain water or condensation.There is no way for coolant to get in the trans/rear end.

more than likely you need to replace the rubber boot on the shift lever. this is the most common cause for water in hyd. fluid
