silver paint in a gas tank?

Someone told me that they fixed thier gas tank on there old tractor by sandblasting the inside of the tank then spraying aluminum silver paint insidr the tank. When i heard this i couldnt beive what this guy was saying it sounded like the dumbest idea i ever heard. has anyone ever heard of this? dosent gas eat paint?

As far as useing paint I wouldn't do it. As far as sandblasting this isn't that hard. Make an extension with a 90 on it for your sandblaster and a small mirror. Takes some time but works good. I use the Kreem system and it comes with a prep to remove rust and works good. That got me away from blasting.

Pretty far fetched. First, there is no way to completely sand blast the inside of a gas tank, it just can't be done. Second, the silver paint might hold up for awhile, but would quickly begin peeling and then those flakes of paint would clog things up worse than the rust that was in the tank to begin with.
