I don't know where to post this question, however,I have inhereted a 1975 MGB sports car that has been in dry storage for app. 16 years. The car is like new overall but has an extreme amount of mildew on the vinyl seats and carpet. What would be a safe way to remove this mildew.

I don't know about mildew, but I saw Simple Green take mulberry stains off of white vinyl in a pontoon boat that sat over the winter. It is safe and should not hurt the color. Try a piece that is not visible first to see if the color is set.

You might look here.. Not cheap though... and I haven't used the stuff....

The bleach will work but if preservation is important, I'd try something different first. Even just soap, water, brush and lots of elbow grease.. I've used bleach solutions before (boat cushions) and it weakens the cloth threads. they won't break immediately, but over time, they will fray and prematurely fail.

A mild solution of household bleach will usually take it off and prevent further mold growth. Try a tablespoon per quart of water - increase it if not enough. Don't breath the air - keep a fan going, and wear rubber gloves. Try your mixture on an inconspicous place at first. Good Luck!
