I have a splitdorf 246t with the points plate off along with the larger upper gear. Could not find any timing marks on the small(rotor gear) or the large brass upper gears. Any timing suggestions, thanks for the help.

You won't find any marks unless someone had marked it in the past. On the 246T that turns CCW for old JDs you want to align the distributor disc and gear with the timing lever fully advanced and contact points seperated/ open. Then align the gears to where facing the rotor disc that the far left side of contact on disc will align with the LH #1 brush in cap. Install cap and try running it then. Then pull the cap off again to see if it is firing ok on the disc contact at left side. If it is firing too far one way or the other realign again. For CW drive mags align just the opposite.

I dont know, but if you go over to the John Deere board and ask for Glen in Tx or Duane Larson I bet they may be able to help. I have absolutely NO specs or data or even pictures of those mags
