Would someone please tell me the correct procedure for installing the front and rear crankshaft seals? I only want to do it one time.
Thanks

It would be best for you to post this question on the Ford site. I would love to help you but this is beyond me. I know you will find some experts on that site.

Steven- crank seals are the rope type. Feed half in the block and the other half in the oil pan. Trim them flush with a utility knife. I put a little sealer on the ends where they meet. Also if I remember right they should be soaked in clean oil for a bit before installation. Good luck.

Some of the mechanics where i worked, had a tool that hooked into the end of the upper rope seal,(well oiled) and with much tugging, it would pull the seal around above the crankshaft! I never had one, but the older Ford mechs did. Maybe, in my memory, it seems it was like that woven kids toy, that ya stuck yer fingers into it and pulled, and ya couldn't get yer fingers out, no matter how hard ya pulled on it! the pan seal is easy to replace.
