I have a A-C model Ca that has a narrow front end, it wobbles bad in high gear. I tightened the outside wheel bearings but it did not improve things. The front sector (towards the steering wheel) has some slop in it like a bearing might be bad. I was wondering if I should that the front wheels off and look for damaged bearings? The left one I turned a quarter of a turn and the right I turned 4 revolutions.I'm new to tractors and I'm a novice wrencher. Thank you!

The first thing to look at, is toe-in.Going slow usually is not a problem.My JD 855 was a handful at road speed until I set the toe-in at about 1/4" narrower at the front of the tires.Now it is as smooth as silk.Still cannot keep up with traffic though.

The slop usually comes from other sources, but start at the wheel bearings. If they are OK- look at the pedestal bearings, steering arm linkages, then the steering gear. A service manual will ID all of those parts. Running on hard surface roads will show more slop in those parts than running on gravel- just shows what you need to fix next.
