I have a 1944 John Deere styled Model B. Could anyone tell me how to get the brake drums off?

Just did this on one I am working on. You will be better served to take the 4 bolts off that hold the seat and floor pan to the rear axle housing first. Then you can get into the two bolts and the nut that hold the brake housing on. Make sure you have the drum freed up if possible. Once you get the assembly off, it is harder to work on them unless the drum will roll. With the unit off, take the nut off the inside that holds the gear on and then your drum shaft and all comes out the opposite side. Sounds easy...Usually requires a few cursing words.

Remove the 3 bolts that hold the brake assembly to the transmission case and remove as a unit.
