i need to know how these things work 1950"s case. idont know if the generator works, the amp meter when cranking over barely, "wobbles" is all i can come up with. under the cap where the contacts are i manually pushed on the contact to make it operate the other contact and tried cranking it, still nothing.. the """thing that the plug wires come from ..... ..... .dont know i wasnt willing to tear down yet till i got some info please respond ..... ..... ..... .. im just a dumb kid! thanx Hank!

The tractor will start regardless of the condition of the generator, or even if it were missing. The same is true for the voltage regulator.

I HOPE the points you are messing with are in the distributor, and NOT the voltage regulator, as you shouldn't be messing with the innards of the voltage regulator!

If you could post the model number of the tractor, I'll bet it would help someone to try to "walk" you through your ignition problems!
