Im restoring a Oliver Super 88 and need help getting the old steering wheel off. Its up on blocks and cant get the big nut to break loose. Any suggestions on steering wheel removal? Thanks

I recently changed the steering wheel on my 1944 Farmall H. It probably had been on there since it was new. My impact is a 650 bpm and would not take off the nut. I borrowed a IR 2135 [1100-1200]
which took it off. My 3 jaw puller would'nt take it off. I didn't try the duct tape which has been suggested and might work. I found a 3 jaw puller
that has a ring that you can screw down over the arm to hold them from slipping. It was alot more heavy duty than mine and took it off. Even then it didn't want to come easily.Most average farmers don't have the heavy duty tools so if you have a friend who works in a shop that does,maybe you can borrow them. Best of luck.

Glad you made it and yes most of us (I guess; I do) have Harbor Freight type stuff cause we don't do things commercially and normally don't need it.....but when you do, you do.

Sounds like your ring did what my duct tape did; kept the fingers from sliding out from under the wheel.

Lots of a high quality penetrating oil and an impact wrench.

Then, when the nut's off, more oil and I use a 3 jaw puller under the wheel and tie the jaws tight with quacker (duct) tape so they can't slide off the underside of the wheel.

I put it in stress and let it sit for an hour or so. Come back and give it a tap with a hammer on the end of the puller, more lube, and pick up whatever I can get in torque.

It may take a day to do it but this usually works.
