i have a real problem i need a replacement end cap for my magneto ignition from my 1944 allis chalmers model c tractor the gear inside the end cap is badly damaged and needs replacement im not too sure if i need to replace the end cap itself or if i can just change the gear out and if i need a repplacement end cap where can i order a new one my magneto is a teledyne wisconsin motor J4B3 serial 6828311 part X2B7E if u can help me i will be in great appreciation Thank You

the magnetto on my Allis-chalmers B won't produce enough juice to start the engine.Any way to boost it w/o rebuild on the mag?

I agree with mark once you start it's like you get addicted you just can't stop. and i found out that when we took the motor and head andd all of that to get cleaned out and grinded and all of that they could actually find out what kind of tractor it was by the motor. so mabey if you still arn't sure after a while you could take it into a mechanical shop that overhauls motors and that sort of thing to see if they could pin point the tractor model

Hi David,

The J4B3 should be a Fairbanks Morse designation so I am confused by the reference to teledyne wisconsin. Perhaps they were also used on wisconsin engines and one got put on your C that has the wisconsin label. As far as I know Bs and Cs used an FM mag from the factory. In any event, that gear you speak of (together with shaft) is available here, although the part number is an FM number. Perhaps your X2B7E is a wisconsin number that is really the same part? I don't know. A cutaway view w/part numbers for the FM J4B mag is here. Be prepared for a price shock on any of these parts.
