yanmar 1702 -cracked head -running hot

I have a Yanmar 1702 -diesel -3 cylinder I have taken it to a tractor shop and they put it on a diagnostic --and came up either cracked head or gasket --the mechanic said it was running too good to be a gasket --if it is a cracked head --can it be sealed w anything --or does it have to be replaced --I have had everything done I can think of and do not want to buy a new head --and possibly could not find one reasonable --ANY SUGGESTIONS ??? HOW MUCH WOULD A NEW HEAD COST --is Yanmar really a JohnDeere made for overseas??

I'm not familiar with the 1702, but did work on a few Yanmar's in the early 80's. The shop where I worked at was the first Yanmar dealer in the area of Central Texas where I was living.

The compact John Deere tractors at that time were made by Yanmar, and the only difference between the two was the sheet metal and the color of the paint. From what I remember, and the experiences that I had with them...would take a Yanmar over a Kubota on any given day. You may want to post this message on the "Orphans" board and see if you can get better results.

Don't know where you are located, but I think there is still a place that deals with Yanmar Tractors in Burleson Texas. You may be able to do a search and find the parts you are looking for.
