ford 850 oil leak not rear main seal

ok 1955 ford 850, replaced rear main seal runs good for about three mins then proceeds to pump oil out the front of the flywheel inspection plate and small hole on bottom of the transmition housing .could this be the rear cam plate i heard of can anyone conferm the timing and large amount of oil expeld it would probably empty the oil if i let it run. has anyone experenced this? thanks i find this site invalueable to educating myself on this old tractor

That could very well be the problem. It's just a thin gasket that seals it. Unfortunately you have to break tractor in half to change it. Someone more familiar with the Fords might shed more light on this though.
