what you guys think of van sickle paints for a workin tractor where finish not a worry? if its ok do i need to put a hardner in it? what kind?

For the price I think it is excellent paint. Unless you have the proper paint booth facilities and are experienced, I don't see any point in spending $100-200 a gallon for automotive paint. I use VanSickle paint thinned with NAPHA and added hardner. Works great in my open air paint booth.

hey k mo you trying to steal my patent on the out door spray booth? all jokes a side this is the first tractor that i have atempted i have sprayed a old 1 ton and a horse trailer about ten yrs ago came out pretty good i didnt use hardner because i didnt know what hardner was then. any tips on this paint job would be a great help the first one is a 1951 SA then a 1962 140 that my father-inlaw left me

I use Van Sickle paint all the time. I've painted plows, mowers, a welding trailer with good results. I painted a Massey Pony with it and used their hardner. I sold the tractor after about a year and paint still looked good but it was shedded. I have a plow I painted red a couple of years ago. Paint faded but still pretty good. I didn't use hardner. For a working tractor it would ok. If I wanted a first class job I'd use a better paint.

i have not heard of that brand, but any job (or paint job) worth doing is worth doing right the first time. i usually use martin senour brand 'cause that is what is available here and it is a good name brand paint. there are some other good brands also like: dupont, sherwin williams.
