Bought a nice 1954 Fordson Major diesel, but it leaves deep ruts on the lawn and wife is frowning at me. Guess what - it has CC in the rear tires. If I empty them out I will lose 600lbs which will help.
I am more concerned about the long term corrosion effect of CC on the rims - if I drain the stuff out, will corrosion happen faster than if I just leave it in there and put up with glaring wife for a few more years? Advice appreciated - thanks.

Excellent task to do, getting rid of the calcuim chloride. You will be suprised how much more responsive the tractor will be. She'll burn less fuel too.Hills will be climbed easier and less tendency to runaway when going down hill. Depending on tire size and weight. Those tires may be able to go down to 5 to 10 psi. Air down both the fronts and backs until they squat or bulge a wee bit.

My tractor tire fixer will take the fluid out for free if I give him the CC. Maybe yours will too.

Dave, where in NY are you? I have five tires with CC that I would give the stuff away if someone wants it.

maybe your tire guy is local to me as well, if not I will try a local place.

PS - My tractors are in Presho, NY (very small town south of Corning, NY in the finger lakes region.

As long as you drain it out with a hose so it doesn't get all over the rims, there problem of it rusting the rims will be gone. But if all you do is remove the stem the water/cal will get all over the rim and with out brakeing the tire down so you can wash it off it will cause the rim to rust.
