Need Help With Massey Ferguson 85

Hello everyone. I`m hoping someone here can help me. I`ve got 1964 Massey Model 85 that I have replaced the hydraulic pump on.To do this the tractor is split at the transmission, the pump removal a reinstall was no problem.However I`m am having one heck of a time getting the two halves of the tractor back together. The problem is that there the lower shaft from the tranny which drives the pump and is connected by a female splined coupling , which is carter keyed to the pump side shaft.I cannot for the life of me get the front (tranny side) to mesh into the coupling.I`ve tried pushing it on a few hundfred times and also have tried lining it up it close and using bolts to pull it together all Ive succeeded in that method is shearing several keys.I`ve been going back and forth for 3 days now trying to get everything lined up to no avail.Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.Thanks.
