Sears GT5000 Hydrostatic Problems

I have just over 5 hours on my Sears Garden tractor and thought I'd do a little mowing this evening. Things were going great until I hit this stump, which bent the roller thing at the front of the carriage. I can straighten that out and correct.

However, for some reason, now my hydrostatic stick, (or whatever you call it), doesn't match up with the slots. What I mean is that when I put it in neutral, it is still moving forward. It appears that it is off about an inch.

I cannot imagine why smacking into a stump would affect the stick but sure could use some guidance on how to readjust it.

Any tips for this old amateur will be very much appreciated.

Hi,
I'll recommend to anybody, I cut my grass at 2" height. My yard may not look as good as the neighbors but I have less tractor problems.

The control lever for the hydrostatic is adjustable. If you will look inside between the wheel and the fender you will see a bolt that holds the lever in position. Get the tractor in neutral, then loosen the bolt and adjust the lever to the neutral position.
