Lost and confused probably.

I was going to replace the engine on my grandfathers troy bilt tiller (I think it's 1969-1970) my father restored much of it in 1996(before he passed away) except for the engine, now it has a broke connecting rod and is just old and my sister left it in the rain so I really just wnat to replace the engine. I have found several places that have engines but mine has two shaft's coming out of the 6hp tucumseh engine that connect to two different pullies.

One is the regular drive shaft the other is an extension of the cam shaft that also hooks to a pully?

The replacement engines I've seen have only one shaft??

What should I do? or how could I replace it since it is different than the newer engines?

thanks in advance for any help.

I got a piston kit and rebuilt it yesterday, the crank was not damaged so everything went smooth.

Tilled some today with it and it run"s good.

Sounds good, always good to hear when someone is able to rebuild/repair instead of having to replace. I went through a simular problem with a lawn mower recently. The parts to repair the engine were going to cost almost as much as another lawn mower would cost. I ran accross an older gentleman that had a small engine repair business in his backyard. After telling him what I was looking for and BS'ing with him for about three hours he looked through his collection of old lawnmower parts and handed me what I needed to fix it. Said "take these and see if it will work then we'll talk about how much it's going to cost for the parts." I got the mower fixed and went back to talk and pay him and he told me not to worry about it that the parts were on him.

later days mate,
Jim

I unlocked my email - If it's a V60 or TVM140 you are looking for, I can get them for you, very reasonable.

You may want to check and see what shape the engine is in. It might be as easy and cost about the same to rebuild the engine. I am sure that there are parts still available for it both new and used.

There are commonly available "tiller engines" that have the second output shaft, although I con't say for sure they'll fit yours. I believe the second shaft is only for reverse. If you can do without reverse, there will be more engine options.

Here's a couple of places to look:

I believe there's "800" numbers on both sites to call them direct.
