I am working on my Farmall B and am trying to get the bolts out of the brackets on the rear rims. They are rusted in pretty well. What works best to desolve heavy rust?

Best stuff I have ever seen for rusted bolts, ect is a product called PB Blaster. Can be purchased at any AutoZone store and many other auto parts stores. Spray it on liberally, let it sit for a few hours and it works great.

Mine were so rusted, I found it simpler to go ahead and break them off, then drive them out. If you are talking about the bolts that hold the weights to the wheel.

Thanks JMH for the reply but I am talking about the bolts that are square headed that hold the rim onto the wheel center. There are 4 of them and the square heads fit into the bracket on the rim to keep them from turning. They are rusted into those brackets. I already have the rim off of the center but can't get the bolts out of the bracket. I want to put some type of rust breaker on them before I try to heat them and drive them out.

Are the tires off the rims? If not, heating to loosen the bolts will melt the tubes inside the tires. The bolts, if they are so rusty, are likely junk. I'd just grind them flush with the bracket and whang them out with a punch and hammer. Grinding heat should not pop the tubes.

Pour some coca-cola on them. We used this to remove logging truck tires from the rims when they were rusted solid.
